EMDSO Meeting Minutes on 10/17/2009; ECC Observatory field

Members Present:

Bob and Emily Sander, Paul Chambers, Ray Mueller, Jerry Kelley and Rick Schwentker.

Treasurer’s Report:

There is $763.27 left in the treasury

Meeting Highlights:

The meeting was short and sweet to get on with the planned observing session.

Repairs on ECC Observatory:

The opening mechanism needs to be installed; the dimmer switch needs to be reversed; and the shutter needs to be sealed. These repairs may take place in the Spring 2010. Weather has been a real problem.

Proposal to ECC to build a New Observatory: ECC's decision is pending. Not expected very soon.

Big Blue 30" site New Haven Status:

The road is completed for now. We are making an effort to put sand bags across the road where erosion problems have occurred in the past. Results are mixed. We still have some erosion but for the most part it’s ok.

Logo Contest:

Don't forget about the Logo contest! It is ongoing until Christmas. Bring your submissions to our December meeting.

Newsletter:

Pat asked if it would be possible to put the current newsletter on the web site or at least the current activities. He was visiting his daughter and they tried to access what was going on but most of the events were long past.

November Meeting:

The meeting will be at the 30" site in New Haven, on Nov 21st at 7:00 PM. DON'T COME EARLY! This is deer season. Hunters don't leave the woods until dark. If there is a cloud out the meeting will be held at Pat McDonald’s house, 1234 Olive Road. Look for an e-mail for an update if there are any changes.  If you need directions to Pat’s please e-mail Rick.
