Welcome to the Eastern Missouri Dark Sky Observers. Our club is a NON-PROFIT organization in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code of 1954 and we are registered in the state of Missouri as a non-profit organization. We serve the East Central Missouri area through astronomy education and observing sessions. Please explore the menu links at the left for more information about astronomy and EMDSO.

Our next ECC public observing for 2023 will be Saturday, April 15. We will be meeting in the parking lot near the sand volleyball court.

2023 ECLIPSE INFO: An annular solar eclipse will happen October 14, 2023 for 8 western states from Oregon to Texas. Eastern Missouri will see only about 55% of the sun eclipsed my the moon and it will not be annular. Time for Missouri is around 10:30 am CDT. Eclipse glasses are required for safe viewing and are for sale for $2 through EMDSO.
2024 SOLAR ECLIPSE INFO: The eclipse path will enter the US a little southwest of San Antonio Texas and will exit the US in Houlton Maine. This eclipse will allow viewing of around 90% of totality in the MO Cities of Washington, Union, Herman and New Haven. Totality will occur in Cape Girdeau, Missouri and Carbondale IL.
